MARBELLA:

One of the most magical and captivating events that happens on the Costa del Sol in September is the lights festival l of the Moorish Moon in Guaro. During the 7th and 8th of September, between 17:00 and 24:00, this small town near Marbella is illuminated only by the light of thousands of candles located in the streets, creating figures and a fairytale atmosphere. There are also street markets, food, and belly dance shows. Both children and adults will enjoy this event!

For art lovers, the exhibition “The graphic music of Jaume Plensa” is available from July 21 to September 8 at the Museo del Grabado. The works were made between 1982 and 2017 and review the concept of the human body from very different interpretations. The variety of graphic resources (xylographs, etchings, photoetches), as well as representation and formats stand out. (From 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.) closed Sundays and Mondays.

If you have never been in a Verbena, on the 14th  and 15th of September you have the opportunity to do so in Marbella. These events are like a small-scale fair. They have traditional music, food, attractions, fireworks horses and even a popular paella. Perfect to enjoy with children! It takes place in the neighborhood of Cristo de los Molinos.

The town of Marbella also has sports and health events. The city will host the 12th Yoga Congress of the Costa del Sol, which will take place from September 28 to 30 from 9 a.m. to 9 a.m. You can find here the program of this year.

Tennis lovers can enjoy the Seniors Masters Cup 2018 at the Puente Romano tennis club. The event will take place between September 28th and 29th, with participants such as Carlos Moya, Juan Carlos Ferrero or Marat Safin among others.

If you are looking for street markets, every Monday in the neighborhood of Las Albarizas is celebrated an open-air market with more than 360 stalls with all kinds of products, from local fruits to handicrafts. On Saturdays you can also attend a market focused on crafts and textiles in Nueva Andalucia, next to Centro Plaza.

ESTEPONA

The International Week of fantastic and horror films will be between 9 and 15 September and is completely free. The municipality of Estepona celebrates each year this event which includes much more than horror films, exhibitions, gastronomic days … Check here locations and movies for 2018.

MIJAS

Mijas Fair takes place between 5th to 9th September, with an extensive program of activities for children and adults. Concerts, fair attractions, typical food and traditional Andalusian music. All settled for a perfect evening!

Those who like history will enjoy the recreation that takes place on September 15th and 16th in the historic center of Mijas. Currently the town returns to 1812 to commemorate the victory of local troops over Napoleon’s army.

RONDA:

Ronda is an ancient mountain town of scenic views situated only 1h from Marbella. Once a year the city return to the 18th century for their “Feria goyesca”. The town gets back to the “bandoleros” age, and all citizens and many tourists dress themselves according to the fashion of the 18th century. This feria is something you can’t miss and is totally free! This year the Feria takes place between the 28th august until the 2nd of September. Although there is a night fair as well, the most stunning spectacle takes place during the day among all the streets of the old town. More information here.
