In Spain the trend of growth in demand for permits remains to build new homes for several months ago, which allowed closing 2014 with the first increase since 2006, before the crisis.
According to data provided by the Ministry of Development, the number of visas requested to build new homes rose 28% in Spain in the first eight months of the year compared with the same period last year, adding up to 31,612 certificates.
All things being equal and the same pace continues, 2015 will be settled with a second consecutive annual increase.
At the moment, in the first eight months of the year, 79.7% of requested visas were for the construction of new flats in block, with 22,058 units and a cumulative annual rise of 31.3%. The rest of the requested authorizations were for single-family residences, with 9,538 applications, 20.6% more than in the same period a year earlier.
